Software & Version
Mechanical 2021R2
*This example was taken from this version but is not necessarily limited to this version.
Description/Cause
SIG$SEGV errors are related to software/hardware interaction issues. It could be failing hardware, corrupt OS, corrupt Ansys install and/or corrupt model. In this documented case, since model runs were successful periodically on problematic computer and fully on others, we turned to the likely cause of a corrupt Windows or Ansys install, failing hardware (RAM, Disk, etc). In this case, it was failing memory.
Solution
- Rule out a corrupt model
- See if it can run on another computer and same version of Ansys successfully.
- Rule out hardware failure
- Rule out a Corrupt OS
- Rule out corrupt Ansys Installation
