ERROR

ANSYS 2021R1 Mechanical jobs submitted with RSM may be subjected to staging files being deleted prematurely mid solve or deleted during a failed retrieval. Enabling the setting in RSM Configuration to keep all staging files is ignored.

Note types of simulation exhibiting this issue: Random vibration, harmonic analysis, eigenvalue buckling, and potentially others.

Description/Cause

It is a known bug that will be fixed in ANSYS 2021R2.

Solution

1. Several mitigation techniques
   • Check size of file in the staging directory to ensure there is enough space on local drive before retrieving.
   • Consider backing up the staging file before retrieving.
2. Set RSM Output Files Download to Hide.  This should prevent files from being deleted mid solve.
   • Mechanical under File > Options > Results > set RSM Output Files Download to Hide.
   • Appdata may need to be reset for both 2021R1 and 2020R1 to prevent this feature from defaulting back to Show.
