ERROR
When saving a file in Fluent (File ➜ Write ➜ Case & Data) you get the following error:

Error: HDF Error occurred! at IO\Hdf\src\Hdfile_impl.hpp:151 during a call to HDF5 library function H5Fcreate
Error Object: #f
Warning: Error in writing compressed file “[file path].cas.gz”Done.
Software & Version
Ansys Fluent 2023 R2
*This documented instance of this error occurred in this version but is not necessarily limited to this version.
Description/Cause
You don't have permission to write to the folder you're saving to. In the documented instance, the folder's network share permissions and NTFS (New Technology File System) permissions both blocked the save.
*The cause(s)/solution(s) we identified in this documented instance may not be the only cause(s)/solution(s) for this error.
Solution
Confirm It's a Folder Permissions Issue
- Save the case and data to a local folder you own, such as your Documents folder. If the save works there, the error comes from the permissions on the original folder.
Check Your Folder Permissions
- Find the folder in the file path shown in the warning in the ERROR section above.
- Ask your IT administrator to give you Modify permission on the folder from the warning, in both the network share permissions and the NTFS permissions.
Verify the Fix Worked
- Save the file again from the same menu in Fluent.
- Confirm that the HDF error and the compressed-file warning no longer appear.
