Connected License Server List: <Shared_Web_License_Server>
Unexpected license problem; exiting.
Hit Return to exit.Software & Version
Fluent 2024R2, and newer
*This example was taken from this version but is not necessarily limited to this version
Description/Cause
This is a generic error message that can occur for multiple reasons. Please see solutions below:
*The cause(s)/solution(s) we identified in this documented instance may not be the only cause(s)/solution(s) for this error.
Solution
Disable Shared Web Licensing
- Launch the “Ansys Licensing Settings 202X” as Administrator
- Navigate to “Web Licensing > Products”
- Toggle the switch to disable Web Licensing and click “Save”

Update Ansys License Manager
- On the license server, please download and install the latest version of the Ansys License Manager
- While the user had a valid license for Fluent 2024R1 installed on the license manager, the license manager was too old to support the checkout functionality for this version.
- Due to the error message in the console, this may appear to be related to the “Shared Web License Server” functionality, however that was not the case in this situation.
- Note: The following error may simultaneously occur in the Ansys License Manager Debug Log.
CFD License: Fluent - Workbench Interface
- If you receive this error when opening Fluent from Ansys Workbench, please verify your CFD license
- “Ansys CFD Pro” does not include the Workbench interface. "CFD Premium” or higher is required.
Warning
You will likely receive another license error upon running Fluent again. Please search our knowledgebase for the new license error.
