ERROR
When performing an RSM internal file transfer test job > if the submit host is set with a CNAME > and file transfer is set to use RSM internal file transfer > the test job will fail with error message below when using a standard user account.
Submit Failed
Credentials not cached on computername for destination : ClusterNodeName <ClusterNodeName.domain.local>
Software & Version
Remote Solver Manager
*This example was taken from this version but is not necessarily limited to this version.
Description/Cause
Hpcutils.exe on the head node reads the encrypted cached credentials sent from the client machine and uses it to submit Windows HPC jobs. The combination of a standard user or account, CNAME for submit host and RSM native file transfer does not allow for the credentials of the standard user to be accepted.
Using an admin account instead of a standard user is successful, so this issue can be mistaken as a permissions issue.
*The cause(s)/solution(s) we identified in this documented instance may not be the only cause(s)/solution(s) for this error.
Solution
Solution 1 - Use OS file transfer
- Use OS file transfer and set up permissions accordingly
Solution 2 - Use the hostname vs CNAME
- Use the hostname of the head node as opposed to the CNAME
