HOW TO - Manually Reset Your Specified License Servers (ansyslmd.ini)

Authored by Steve Barnett January 13th, 2023 1031 views 0 likes KB1595517

Description

The Client Licensing Settings application will create/update the ansyslmd.ini file when you specify a License Server and press Save. There may be times when you want to manually specify or validate the information in this file.  For example - on occasion, there can be artifacts left behind from old installations, server updates or testing, which can lead to License Server connectivity issues.

Solution

Does Not Apply to Electronics

This process only applies to Structus and Fluids products and not electronics.

  1. Locate and name the following file to “ansyslmd.ini.old”
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\ansyslmd.ini
  1. Next, re-specify your license server(s) in the Client License Settings.
    1. If you are running any 2020 R2 or prior, follow the instructions for that version.
  2. Attempt to re-produce the problem.
