HOW TO - Create an ansyslmd.opt OPTIONS file
Authored by Matthew Trachimowicz June 6th, 2024 6064 views 2 likes KB1214268
Description
In some cases you may want to run your Ansys License Server with additional advanced options. One way this can be achieved is by creating an options file (a text file) containing the variables or parameters. The default filename is ansyslmd.opt and its default location is in the same directory as your license file.
Solution
On Windows, open a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++ as administrator and create a blank file and save it as ansyslmd.opt in the appropriate license directory:
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files\ansyslmd.opt
On Linux, as root or sudo, you can use vi or nano to create the ansyslmd.opt in the default lcoation:
/ansys_inc/shared_files/licensing/license_files/ansyslmd.opt
Once your options file is created, you can add various variables or parameters such as TIMEOUTALL or configuring group access or denial to certain license features. Please see the Ansys License Management Guide for additional information.
