ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:Capability ANSYS IcePak does not
exist in the ANSYS licensing pool.

Failed to get license ice-pak: return code 0

Description/Cause

Icepak classic is opened as a standalone software application and installed via the flagship products installer ISO's.  The new version of Icepak is opened via the AEDT interface and installed via the Electronics software package.  Icepak 2019R3 classic and earlier  require a legacy license called "ANSYS Icepak" and relies on  increment "aice_pak".  As of at least 10/1/2020, we are unable to issue this legacy license and instead can only issue "ANSYS Electronics Premium Icepak" or "ANSYS Electronics Enterprise" licenses that include the increment "elec_solve_icepak".  These new licenses and license increments do not allow Icepack Classic 2019R3 or earlier to run.

Solution

  • Use the newer Icepak UI found in Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT).
  • Use Icepack classic 2020R1 or later.
  • Ask SimuTech support to contact Ansys and request if they are able and willing to approve a legacy license to be issued.
