Description
This article provides instructions on how to modify your installed Ansys License Files (ansyslmd.lic) file in the event that the hostname of the device hosting your licensing is changed or does not match the hostname found in your license file.
Solution
Warning
Any future license files received/installed will have to be modified to reflect the correct hostname, unless you Rehost Your FlexNet License File.
-
Stop the Ansys License Manager.
Note: In some situations when the license manager attempts to start when the hostname doesn't match what's in the license file, the following services may become hung and need to be manually stopped via the task manager: ansysli_server.exe, ansyslmd.exe, lmgrd.exe and ansysli_monitor.exe - Launch Notepad with Run as Administrator rights.
- Click on File > Open > copy and paste the following path into the File Name field.
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\licensing\license_files\ansyslmd.lic
- Modify the hostname found after the word SERVER on the first line.
Important: The hostname in this license file must match the hostname/computer name that the license manager is installed and running on.
- Save the file.
- Start the License Manager.
