HOW TO - Set User License Privileges via an Options File

Authored by Caleb Scharf September 22nd, 2021 2400 views 0 likes KB1050193

Description

Need to reserve a license so it's always available for a particular user, hostname, display name, group, etc.?  Need to allow or deny the use of features to a user, group hostname, etc?  Need to set the idle timeout for participating Ansys products and more?  While this take a little time and consideration depending on your use case, this can all be accomplished via an options file.

Solution

  1. Start by reviewing section 4.5 (pg 49) in the Ansys License Management Guide
  2. Next review page 144 in the  FlexNet Publisher 2019 R2 - License Administration Guide.pdf for how to create your options file based on your specific requirements.
  3. Other references you may find helpful when identifying what specific license features you need to control.
