ERROR

You receive an error message indicating that licensed number of users already reached. Though this error can indicate that others are using all available licenses, in this case, the user attempting to retrieve the license had also borrowed the same license increment(s).

Description/Cause

The user getting the error had previously borrowed the license increments.  You are able to determine if the licenses were borrowed by launching Licensing Settings on the client PC and clicking on Features in Use. If the license is borrowed, it will show “linger” at the end of the license string:

When on the same network as the License Manager server/workstation, Ansys will only attempt to retrieve licensing from the License Manager, NOT the licenses that were borrowed.

Solution

1. While on the same network as the License Manager, return the borrowed licenses.
