ERROR

When installing Ansys from a zip file download, you receive this error when trying to run Setup.exe. 

Windows cannot complete the extraction.

The destination file could not be created.

This error was given using the Structures 2021 R2 package but can be given with any of the zip file packages.

Description/Cause

This error is caused by attempting to run the Setup.exe file before extracting/unzipping the package. When you run the Setup.exe file you will be prompted with this error. After closing this error, the installer may still load, but it is important to close the application and extract the package. Running the installation without properly extracting the file can lead to errors within the software.

Solution

After downloading the Ansys Zip package right click and select Extract All. Once the package is extracted right click Setup and Run As Administrator from the extracted file.
