Software & Version
AutoCAD 2024 (v8)
Thermal Desktop 2025 R2
*This example was taken from this version but is not necessarily limited to this version.
Description/Cause
This issue occurs because AutoCAD and Thermal Desktop are using incompatible system files, which causes a conflict when Thermal Desktop is used within AutoCAD.
As a result, AutoCAD may launch successfully, but it will become unresponsive or crash when attempting to run Thermal Desktop features, such as commands or the Beer Can tutorial.
The cause(s)/solution(s) identified in this documented instance may not be the only possible cause(s)/solution(s).
Solution
Rename conflicting AutoCAD files
- Ensure Ansys applications and AutoCAD are closed.
- Navigate to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20xx (Replace the xx for the autocad version installed)
- Locate these files:
- libcrypto-3-x64.dll
- libssl-3-x64.dll
- Rename the files as follow:
- libcrypto-3-x64.dll → libcrypto-3-x64_AC20xx.dll (Replace the xx for the autocad version installed)
- libssl-3-x64.dll → libssl-3-x64_AC20xx.dll (Replace the xx for the autocad version installed)
- Launch AutoCAD again
- Open a drawing and test a Thermal Desktop command
