Description
Removing and reinstalling your installed license file can resolve various issues, particularly if expired lease/evaluation licenses are installed. It can also resolve issues if the license file becomes corrupted.
When an Ansys License Key (.txt) is successfully installed from the License Management Center, it creates an installed license file (.lic) in the license files folder. This is the file that is actually used and read by the license manager moving forward. The .txt file should be saved somewhere safe for future reference.
Solution
- First, obtain all license Files(s) that were issued to you. These will be .txt or .lic files.
- Rename Your currently Installed License File:
- Locate your installed license file:
“C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files\ansyslmd.lic”
- Locate your installed license file:
- Rename the file adding ".TodaysDate" to the file name:
“C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files\ansyslmd.lic.EnterTodaysDate”
- Move your old installed license file to the folder called backup
"C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files\backup
- Next, Install your Ansys License File(s). Do not re-install any expired temporary license files as this can cause checkout related issues.
