ERROR
After launching fluent 2024R2, you experience the following error in the console. The error does not occur when launching Fluent 2024R1 on the same machine.
Aborting: Failed to contrsuct hwtree for collect command. 0x8000ffff
Software & Version
Fluent 2024R2
*This example was taken from this version but is not necessarily limited to this version.
Description/Cause
The error was a windows related error and we did not determine the exact cause, since HT is not supported by Ansys, and in this case, resolved the issue.
In this case, the customer tried many things that DID NOT work:
- Eliminate corrupt Ansys settings as the issue - by resetting your Ansys profile folder
- Eliminate the model/project as the issue - if you haven't already, by trying to repeat the problem using new project and basic model.
-
Eliminate Outdated drivers/updates as the issue - by updated system and GPU drivers and bios/firmware.
- While I don't think this is the issue, it has been known to occur and is a good practice to do anyhow.
- HOW TO - Update Drivers & Software - SimuTech (simutechgroup.com)
- Eliminate a corrupt Ansys install as the issue - by performing a comprehensive re-install, which includes additional steps during the uninstall process to clear out all components that the uninstaller does not do by default.
- Eliminate corrupt Fluent Launcher settings - by recreating the fluent launcher settings .ini file
*The cause(s)/solution(s) we identified in this documented instance may not be the only cause(s)/solution(s) for this error.
Solution
- Disable Hyper-Threading
- If disabling HT does not work, Eliminate the user profile as the issue, by seeing if you can repeat the problem on a different user account on the same computer.
